Summary
The ACGME Outcomes Project is a response to internal and external pressure to improve the medical educational process and provide proof of quality. The apprenticeship and accreditation models are evolving to a competency based model. The ACGME mandate will require new tools to both teach and assess these competencies. These new tools will require validity and reliability testing over time in order to reach the ultimate goal of demonstrating evidence of learning and improvement in educational outcomes.
