What is the ACGME Outcome Project?

The ACGME Outcome Project is the long-term educational initiative that will result in documented educational outcomes assessment in the accreditation process.

The key portions of the ACGME Outcome Project are:

1) To “identify learning objectives related to the ACGME's general competencies”;

2) To “use increasingly more dependable (i.e. objective) methods of assessing residents' attainment of these competency-based objectives”; and

3) To “use outcome data to facilitate continuous improvement of both resident and residency program performance.”
