Gestalt dream analysis

In the Gestalt process patients are asked to focus on the present and to assume responsibility for their actions, predicaments, perceptions, and beliefs. Dreams are considered an expression of a person's state of being. All characters and relationships are considered expressions of feelings in the process. Elderly people benefit from the process by having a way to express their feelings to a group without fear of ridicule. A negative self-image among the elderly can result in a general resignation to a continued decline. Group consciousness may become a powerful tool for rebuilding simple emotions of trust and sharing common concerns about life and death.
