ginseng

Ginseng is an herb sometimes promoted as an anti-aging remedy. Ginseng is most often sold as an aphrodisiac or an antidote to the effects of stress. There is no scientific evidence that shows that ginseng has any health benefits. Ginseng, like many herbs, can be harmful in large doses. Possible side effects include nervousness, insomnia, gastrointestinal disorders, and elevation of blood pressure to an extent that might be dangerous to individuals who have hypertension.
