hiring age

Many safety-related jobs have a maximum hiring age. Firefighters are not hired after age 35 and are forced to retire at age 55. The federal government will not allow anyone over the age of 60 to fly a commercial airplane. Police departments often consider a 29-year-old applicant too old. This type of age discrimination has caused a lot of bitterness in the United States. Many people are suing companies for age discrimination. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act enacted by Congress, as well as other amendments, seeks to protect most workers between the ages of 40 and 70 years old from age discrimination.
