retirement states

(see Tables 25, 26) States with the largest percentage of people over age 65 include Florida (17.6 percent), Arkansas (14.3 percent), Rhode Island (14.3 percent), Iowa (14.1 percent), and Pennsylvania (14.1 percent). Eight states account for half of the nation's more than 30 million persons aged 65 and over. California, New York, and Florida each have upwards of 2 million retirees, while Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas each have upwards of 1 million retirees.
