selenium

Selenium is an essential nutrient that some people believe may have an anti-aging effect on the body. Selenium is a potentially dangerous remedy for aging because excess amounts of selenium are toxic. The difference between the level of selenium needed in the human diet and the level that is considered toxic is not large. There is no evidence either clinical or in experimental animals that demonstrates that selenium can retard, much less reverse, the aging process.
