stamp collecting

Stamp collecting is considered the world's most popular hobby. Stamp collecting probably started when the first adhesive postage stamp, the Penny Black, was issued in 1840. In 1886 collectors banded together and formed the American Philatelic Society. The Postal Guide to U. S. stamps can offer guidelines for people interested in starting a stamp collection.
Stamp collecting, like many other hobbies, is a good outlet for the elderly. It does not require strenuous activity and the elderly may enjoy reminiscing with the commemorative stamps.
