Tricycle lessons
I just came back from taking my oldest out on her tricycle. It was pure heaven seeing her little face light up and say, “I can do it Mommy!!”I encouraged her, “Ride up ahead, and I’ll try to catch you!”
The lessons I was trying to teach her seemed appropriate to life as well. The lessons are short and sweet.
Here they are:
- Put on your helmet.
- Don’t go too far to the left or right. Ride somewhere in the middle of the path.
- Try to give other people some space. You can let them pass you, and don’t be afraid to pass them as well.
- Look up ahead and anticipate what is coming your way.
- If you get stuck going uphill, stand up a little and put your weight into it.
- When you get going too fast, just put on your brake and slow down.
- If you fall down, pick yourself back up. Then survey what went wrong and start over.
- Above all else, Smile!
