Andrew Doan, MD, PhD
Dr. Doan is a board certified ophthalmologist. He practices general ophthalmology and performs cataract and anterior segment surgeries. He specializes in eye cancers as an ocular pathologist. His research interests focus on improving the training of medical students and physicians, as well as medical informatics and information technologies.After graduating from Reed College with a BA in Biology, Dr. Doan completed his MD and PhD degrees in Neuroscience at The Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship and an ophthalmology residency at the U of Iowa. He completed a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA as a National Eye Institute and Heed post-doctoral fellow.
Dr. Doan currently trains residents in anterior segment surgeries and eye pathology in Southern California. He currently serves on the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Young Ophthalmology Committee, Congressional Advocacy Committee, and AAO task forces. He is also the managing editor for the Journal of Academic Ophthalmology.
