Rahul Khurana, MD
Dr. Khurana is a Retina and Uveitis Specialist practicing with Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also is a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology at UCSF Medical Center where he teaches and staffs UCSF residents and medical students.After graduating from Stanford University with a BS and MS in Biology, Dr. Khurana earned his MD degree at Duke University. He finished his Ophthalmology Residency at the Doheny Eye Institute at University of Southern California (USC). He completed a Fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation at Doheny Eye Institute of USC followed by a Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. During his training, Dr. Khurana has won numerous awards including the Heed Foundation Fellowship, Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology Paul Kayser Award, and the Ronald G. Michaels Fellowship Award.
Dr. Khurana’s clinical and research interests include retina, uveitis, drug delivery, and glaucoma. He has published over 40 peer reviewed papers in such journals as Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, and American Journal of Ophthalmology. He has won research grants from Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Research to Prevent Blindness, and Fight For Sight; and is involved with over nine clinical trials. In 2007, Dr. Khurana was recognized by the American Medical Association as one of the top 51 emerging national leaders expected to make a strong impact on the future of medicine.
