It is a beautiful town, filled with a unique energy that can be not only relaxing, but energizing at the same time. There is so much to do and see, so where do you begin? Here is a list of some of the top places to see in the city by the Bay.

  • The Waterfront: This exciting hotspot offers the famous Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, and Ghirardelli Square. It is always buzzing with people and activity, and it is not uncommon to find street performers, lots of souvenir shops, and restaurants that serve clam chowder and fresh sourdough bread.

  • Golden Gate Bridge: This is an amazing feat of engineering that is not only beautiful to look at, but provides amazing views while you walk across it. It is a must do, and will even give you an opportunity for a little exercise.

  • Cable Cars: Cable cars are the quintessential San Francisco landmark. These clanking beauties are a fun ride. You will get to see all sorts of cool houses, views of the water, and it will overall, be a worthwhile, one of a kind experience.

  • Alcatraz: This former prison surrounded by water is one of the city’s most popular sites. It is known best for imprisoning notorious criminals, such as Al Capone. To ensure you get to visit Alcatraz on the day you specify, it is best to purchase tickets in advance.

  • Golden Gate Park: This is a beautiful escape to busy city life. With over 1,000 acres, it is home to museums, gardens, a lake, Dutch windmills, and even a herd of American bison. Free shuttles run often to take you around the park if you so desire.

  • Lombard Street: This is the best known “crooked and steep” street in San Francisco. It is fun to drive down it, or you could even walk it.

  • Union Square: One of the city’s original parks, it now offers many upscale shops and hotels. There are many brightly painted buildings, making it an experience to not only enjoy chic shopping, but to immerse yourself in some of San Francisco’s distinct and historic architecture.

  • Cliff House: What a view! The first Cliff House was a pillar in the community when it was first built in 1863. Since then it has been rebuilt three times, and today it houses a restaurant that’s views are unrivaled.

  • Sausalito: A ferry ride across the Bay, or a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, you will find one of the most breathtaking views available in the area. It has a distinct Mediterranean flair, and once you get here, you will be able to browse art galleries, peruse more than 30 unique boutiques, or eat at renowned restaurants that feature fresh seafood and other California cuisine.

These are just a hint of all that San Francisco has to offer. With all these fun sites to see, you are sure to enjoy yourself, and you just might find that you leave a piece of your heart there.
