H-factor, Factor H: A protein involved in the regulation of inflammation in the body. Abnormalities in this protein have been associated with AMD implying that inflammation is associated with the disease; 20.

Hypertension: High blood pressure; 29, 32.

Linolenic acid: Actually alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is found in nuts and some oils and converted to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which are essential fatty acids that reduce inflammation and the risk of heart disease and AMD; 47.
