Dr. Armen Shahbazian, MD

Armen A. Shahbazian, M.D., is a board certified Radiation Oncologist with more than 30 years of experience in radiation oncology, with a special emphasis on radiation implantation (Brachytherapy).  He is a Fellow of both the American College of Radiation Oncology and the American College of Radiology.  There are over 5,000 Board Certified Radiation Oncologists in the United States, yet less than 10% are awarded a Fellowship from the American College of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Shahbazian was awarded his Fellowship in 2000. He is also a clinical Fellow of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Shahbazian has lectured to medical and professional groups throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Dr. Shahbazian is a respected authority on Radiation Oncology, Brachytherapy procedures (the application of radioactive material directly to the tumor for a specific amount of time), and Hyperthermia (raising the temperature of the treated site to enhance the effectiveness of the radiation).  Dr. Shahbazian is an active participant in several local Tumor Boards. During a Tumor Board meeting, a patient's disease can be discussed by several physicians from the community, to ensure that the patient receives the optimum care available. He is also active in many professional organizations.
